Partnership is the new leadership
Stakeholder engagement has been at the cornerstone of my career. Here is a snapshot of all the ways I build community and work with people
Speaking Engagements
Over the years, I have honed my storytelling skills through a keen understanding of my audience. In an industry with very few women of color, I believe that having a seat at the table and a strong voice will help pave the way for more diversity. I have been invited to speak at industry and government conferences, often alongside scientists, experts, and thought leaders including at the European Commission's Joint Research Center and the US Department of Energy.
Workshops
Transformation begins with a conversation- I have trained over 500 individuals in dozens of workshops in the US, Europe and Middle East so far.
Advisories
As a lifelong learner, I like to surround myself with people smarter than me. I work closely with industry thought-leaders through the advisory program. At IWBI I led the Health Equity and Light Advisories and oversaw my team’s management of 10 additional advisories comprising of over 500 experts across 40 countries.
Teaching
I am inspired by the younger generation. Their perspectives allow me to have a keen understanding of what is important to them and the challenges they face on a day to day basis. I take an active role in participating in classes; teaching, critiquing and conducting workshops for design students at Pratt Institute of Design, Parsons New School of Design and KTH Royal Institut of Technology, Stockholm.
Team
I believe that for high-performing teams to be innovative, there need to be high levels of psychological safety, diversity of perspectives, and trust. I am known for building strong teams- bringing together researchers, public health experts, designers and engineers to solve a problem.
I’ve worked in a highly matrixed organization, running complex projects with stakeholders within and outside the organization is necessary for success.
Diversity of Perspectives
Research and my personal experience have proven time and time again that creativity shines when there is diversity around the table. In addition to my day-to-day responsibilities, I founded the IWBI Doing Better working group, revamped the staff and advisory recruitment processes, and codeveloped the IWBI Impact Fund. My work is recognized across the industry, I serve on the US Department of Energy’s SSL DEIR working group.
